Tonight I was hit with a hand full of eggs and huge rock on my back and called “Nigger” by a white guy in the backseat of a dark blue truck as I was riding my bike on Westheimer and Jeanetta. They drove too fast for me to get the license plate number. I had to get a cop to drive me home. This night makes me wonder how blacks did it back in the day, and why the community is looking the way it is now. I am trying not to cry, but I am in physical pain from the rock and not understanding why I deserved this.

Way to jump on it. How is it dismissive to look at a silver lining? And did you know that I’ve also been harassed a couple times for being black, the first taking place in my current and prodominately white suburban neighborhood at 12? You don’t think I had the same thoughts? No? Ok.
Since there is obvious lack of knowledge as to what I’m talking about, I’ll still venture to say that even in your entire world of fucks, being harassed, being attacked, and being killed, are 3 different, and yet all still wrong, things. Are you mad at me because I’m glad she wasn’t killed? I’m simply stating the fact that what those guys did isn’t as bad as what they could’ve done, and they had neither the audacity nor the cajones to do more, a situation that was probably considered a blessing not too long ago; the exact same conclusion that I made at 12, when it was done to me.

At one time or the other, we’ve all been harassed for being Black. The problem is you DISMISSED her being attacked. We’re not talking about what could have happened. The fact that IT HAPPENED is bad enough. Always.
